The Kingdom of Tonga is a collection of small islands in the South Pacific. Each winter humpback whales come to these breeding grounds as part of their migration. They come to breed, give birth, raise their calf, rest, and socialize before they return to feeding grounds in Antartica for the summer. Tonga has strict regulations for whale tourism which include the proper permits, restricting the time of day and limiting interaction times. ​
