​Channel Islands, California has some of my favorite kelp forests. They are an important part the coastal ecosystem and home to many creatures. Kelp provides much needed protection to seals, sea lions, fish, etc. from larger predators. Kelp also contributes to life on land playing a huge role in capturing carbon out of the atmosphere which helps cool the planet and they also provide the coast protection from erosion. Plus, they are gorgeous.
