Catalina Island, California is a small island that is part of the Channel Islands. The kelp forests around Catalina Island are some of the healthiest in southern California. Much of the area surrounding the Channel Islands are Marine Protected Areas which results in robust habitats and sanctuary for endangered species such as the Giant Black Sea Bass.
